Eastern White Pine. Pinus Strobus. also known as Weymouth Pine, Pumpkin Pine, Northern White Pine, or Soft Pine. Two year old Eastern White Pine sapling. Native to northeastern United States and Canada. They grow naturally in high, dry, sandy, rocky ridges and tolerate of a wide range of soil conditions. These rapidly growing tall trees often reach over 100 feet but most commonly are between 50-80 feet with a max height of 220 feet. Irregular crowns with long horizontal branches range between 20-40 feet wide. Long four inch slender blueish green needles in bundles of five. Slender five inch cones. Grey Bark. Prefers full sun/partial shade, moist well drained fertile sandy loam, and cool humid climates. USDA Hardiness: 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b, 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b, 7a, 7b, 8a & 8b.
